Travel Channel taps LEGOLAND® Water Park as top U.S. attraction

Recently we reported that LEGOLAND® Water Park was named a winner in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest. Out of more than 1,200 facilities, ours was named one of the 10 best outdoor water parks in the U.S.

And the compliments keep coming!

Travel Channel spotlighted LEGOLAND Water Park in its list of the top U.S. water parks, saying:

Twin Chasers, Splash Out and Joker Soaker are just a few attractions guests will find at [LEGOLAND Water Park]. We recommend the Build-A-Raft River, where families can design and build a unique LEGO vessel and set afloat around the park’s 1000-foot-long lazy river. Take a break for a bite to eat at the Beach-n-Brick Grill, which serves burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads and more.

Come see for yourself! LEGOLAND Water Park is open daily through Monday, Sept. 4.

LEGOLAND® Water Park named a Top 10 attraction in USA TODAY-affiliated poll

Hooray for us! LEGOLAND® Water Park recently was named a category winner in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest. Out of more than 1,200 water parks in the U.S., ours was named one of the 10 best outdoor water parks.

Here’s what they had to say:

Guests at LEGOLAND Florida Water Park can explore 5 acres of water features and attractions. Get those creative juices flowing at Creative Cove, where kids can build and race LEGO boats along a fast-flowing river or Build-a-Raft River, where families construct their own vessels for a lazy river-style float. Thrill seekers can choose between high-octane attractions like Splash Out, Twin Chasers or the LEGO Wave Pool.

The results reflect the votes of fans and travelers who picked their favorites in The 10Best Readers’ Choice Award contest. Nominees are chosen by a panel of relevant experts that include editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com, relevant expert contributors and sources for both media and other Gannett properties.

10Best.com provides original, unbiased and experiential travel content of top attractions, things to see and do, and restaurants for top destinations in the U.S. and around the world. Averaging 5 million visitors per month, the site was acquired by USA TODAY in 2013.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort’s environmental efforts made awesome impacts in 2016!

Just last year, LEGOLAND® Florida Resort introduced brand-new recycling initiatives that made a huge difference in the amount of material we recycle and the energy we save. With the help of our very own Waste & Environmental team and Model Citizens, the resort was able to recycle more than 1 million pounds of material through our day-to-day operations!

Here’s some of the stuff we recycled in 2016:

  • 215,000 pounds of cardboard
  • 55,000 pounds of paper (that’s 468 trees!)
  • 39,000 pounds of steel
  • 25,000 pounds of plastic
  • 4,000 pounds of aluminum
  • 11,000 pounds of car tires
  • 16,000 pounds of LEGO® bricks (including bricks recycled from our Merlin Magic Making facility in nearby Lake Wales, Fla.) — that’s enough bricks to build at least 16 copies of our #BrickPony model, the life-size replica of the original Ford Mustang on display outside Ford Driving School!
  • 2,000 pounds of soft LEGO bricks that can be found floating in our Build-a-Raft River in LEGOLAND Water Park

Fun fact: In 2016, LEGOLAND Florida Resort saved enough energy by recycling cardboard, plastic, steel and aluminum to power the theme park’s Heartlake City area for two years!

Another fun fact: We’ve saved a huge amount of energy. In fact, we saved enough energy to power 21 homes for a whole year!

And our energy saving efforts don’t stop there — 2017 is already off to a great start with a new energy-saving initiative that’s going to “light up” the theme park in a whole new way!

Stay tuned to learn more!
