From your car to your cove in minutes at LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat!

Only a few weeks remain before LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat welcomes it first guests to enjoy endless fun in the sun. Our all-new accommodations represent a whole new way to play — and stay — at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, with their own set of outdoor-themed amenities.

One of the most unique amenities is one we’re introducing today — drive-through check-in! When guests arrive, the speedy process will get you from your car to your cove in minutes. (By the way, “cove” is what we call the horseshoe-shaped groupings of colorful LEGO® bungalows on the site.)

Here’s a look at the process through the perspective of a kid:

Designed to look like larger-than-life LEGO sets, the 83 beach-themed bungalows offer 166 separate rooms that sleep up to five, including a cozy area just for kids, with a bunk bed, trundle bed and privacy curtain. They’re an ideal solution for larger families and groups traveling together, or for those seeking a whole new way to vacation at LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

Each bungalow cove has its own outdoor play structure.

Along with picturesque lake views and a LEGO lighthouse featuring a real rotating beacon, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat highlights also include:

  • A giant swimming pool next to The Lighthouse, with an adjacent sandy area perfect for building sandcastles and the resort’s biggest outdoor play structure for kids.
  • Sandy’s Castle Restaurant, featuring a bountiful menu of entrees, sides and desserts designed to please the palates of kids and grownups alike.
    • A delicious breakfast buffet is included with each night’s stay; lunch and dinner are available without reservations.
  • Bricks Beach Bar, offering an eclectic menu of made-to-order food, drinks and creative cocktails served both poolside and indoors.
  • Palm Tree Traders, a large retail shop stocked with LEGO building sets and Minifigures, apparel, toys, swimwear, snacks and sundries.
  • A hands-on LEGO building activity where kids can contribute their own original creations to a giant sandcastle made out of thousands of LEGO bricks.
  • Free Wi-Fi accessible throughout the entire site, indoors and out.
  • Complimentary transportation to the theme park entrance, as well as complimentary parking in LEGOLAND Florida Resort’s main parking lot for guests who choose to drive.
  • Early access to the theme park, with exclusive use of some of the most popular attractions, including the all-new LEGO NINJAGO® World and LEGO NINJAGO The Ride.

LEGOLAND Beach Retreat opens Friday, April 7, and offers the classic summer vacation experience all year long! Nightly room rates start at $135 (plus tax and resort fee) and vary by season, date and availability.

Each bungalow is designed to look like a larger-than-life LEGO® set!

Packages including theme park tickets also are available, and Awesomer and Awesomest Annual Pass Members receive a 10 percent discount year-round. Guests can book a stay online or by calling toll-free (877) 350-5346 daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort welcomes back ‘Blue Elephant’ award winner

Nearly 25 years ago, Michael Dominik was an 11-year-old boy living in Germany when his life was changed by an elephant. A blue elephant.

Blue Elephant Award

Michael Dominik was one of a handful of children who received the coveted “blue elephant” LEGO award in the 1990s.

After entering a LEGO® building competition, Michael was delighted to learn he’d won a prestigious award that made him an “honorary citizen” of LEGOLAND®, a reference to what was then the only LEGOLAND park in the world, Denmark’s LEGOLAND Billund.

In addition to a regal certificate proclaiming his membership in SOCIUS HONORARIUS LEGOLANDIAE, Michael received a stylish medallion on a multicolored ribbon — a blue elephant made out of LEGO bricks.

Although the rare “blue elephant” honor has mostly been forgotten a quarter-century later, Michael always remembered one of its promised perks — lifetime free admission to LEGOLAND.

Michael Dominik

Michael recently visited LEGOLAND Florida Resort with his prestigious blue elephant medallion.

On a recent visit to LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Michael was warmly welcomed back to the site he’d visited years ago with his grandparents when it was Cypress Gardens, one of Florida’s oldest tourist attractions.

He said he was delighted to see the ways the site has changed now that it’s part of the global LEGOLAND family, and that he appreciated the efforts made to continue the water ski shows and preserve the 81-year-old botanical gardens that made the site famous.

Our green initiatives are making other businesses green with envy!

Keep Polk County BeautifulLEGOLAND® Florida Resort recently took top honors for its 2016 environmental efforts among businesses, nonprofits, municipalities and communities in Florida’s Polk County.

The prestigious Environmental Champion Award from Keep Polk County Beautiful is an annual honor that salutes the business that best exemplifies efforts in areas such as litter prevention, beautification, recycling and pollution prevention. LEGOLAND Florida Resort was recognized for:

  • Proactive recycling efforts, including the introduction of 10 brand-new recycling streams in 2016, bringing the site total to 20.
  • Increasing the resort’s landfill diversion efforts by 15 percent.
  • Identifying ways to proactively conserve energy, which has delivered energy savings equivalent to the annual electricity use of 21 homes.
  • Partnering with local utility Tampa Electric to install a 1.8-megawatt canopy of solar energy panels in the resort’s parking lot.
  • Installing a charging station for electric and hybrid vehicles at LEGOLAND Hotel.

Solar energy collected from the 1.8-megawatt parking lot canopy can power as many as 200 homes — or the entire LEGOLAND Hotel!

According to Miguel Velez, waste and environmental supervisor, the resort’s environmental sustainability efforts represent a team effort to find more and better ways to continue being a force for good.
