The beacon of LEGOLAND® Florida Resort’s second on-site accommodations has arrived. When LEGOLAND Beach Retreat opens in mid-2017, The Lighthouse will tower more than 45 feet over the first-of-its-kind vacation resort, a centrally located icon that will be home to a restaurant, pool bar and a giant sandcastle-themed LEGO® building area for kids.
The Lighthouse is shining over LEGOLAND Beach Retreat and is where guests will find a restaurant, bar, retail shop and LEGO play area.
LEGOLAND Florida Resort recently celebrated a key construction milestone by illuminating the rotating, energy-efficient LED light inside the red-and-white striped tower for the first time on a recent evening.
Meanwhile, new details about LEGOLAND Beach Retreat have been revealed, including restaurant names and guest amenities. Sandy’s Castle Restaurant will feature a bountiful menu of creative cuisine designed to please the palates of kids and grownups alike. A delicious breakfast is included with each night’s stay at LEGOLAND Beach Retreat; lunch and dinner will be available without reservations.
LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is located about a half-mile from the theme park entrance, on the shores of Lake Dexter.
At Brick’s Beach Bar, guests can choose from a menu of made-to-order food, drinks and creative cocktails served both poolside and indoors. Nearby, savvy shoppers will find the perfect souvenir at a large retail shop stocked with LEGO building sets, apparel, toys, swimwear, snacks and sundries.
Beyond The Lighthouse, construction continues on schedule for the site’s eagerly awaited debut next year. Concrete has been poured at what will be the largest themed resort pool on property, the highlight of an outdoor oasis that will include a large sandy play area. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of poolside activities that are expected to include sandcastle building, bean bag toss and much more.
Unlike the five-story LEGOLAND Hotel, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat features a village-style layout with 83 beach-themed bungalows offering 166 separate rooms, each with whimsical LEGO décor inside and out. The brightly colored bungalows are grouped into 13 sections, each named after a popular LEGO Minifigure, including Shark Suit Guy (at left), Ocean King and Sea Captain. Each centers around an outdoor play area with fun and challenging elements, all within view of the bungalows’ shaded patios, where parents can put their feet up, kick back and relax while kids play.
Conveniently located adjacent to the popular theme park, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat combines the fun of surf and sand with the creativity of LEGO building sets, and will offer picturesque views of Lake Dexter from nearly every sun-kissed corner. All guests enjoy early access to the theme park, with exclusive use of some of the most popular attractions.
Reservations currently are available for stays from June 1 through Nov. 30, 2017. Room rates start at $135 and vary by season, date and availability. Packages including theme park tickets are also available. Grand opening festivities and additional amenities will be announced at a later date.
Guests can participate in two separate scavenger hunts for a chance to win a LEGO prize.
We’re on the lookout for little detectives to help us uncover secret messages during Brick or Treat Presented by Shutterfly, happening only at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort. Each weekend in October and on Halloween, guests can participate in two separate scavenger hunts. To get started, head to the LEGO® Studio Store in Fun Town, pick up an entry form and let the adventure begin!
Sweet treats with letters come together to unveil a hidden message.
On the LEGO Sweet Treat Scavenger Hunt, near the Wells Fargo Fun Town Theater, kids can decode the mystery phrase by finding the lettered candy made out of LEGO bricks.
The fun continues in MINILAND USA on the LEGO Skeleton Scavenger Hunt, which will lead visitors on a haunted search. During this activity, we need little ghouls and goblins to help us find the skeleton’s scattered bones to reveal the secret message.
When the submission form is complete, don’t forget to turn it in at the LEGO Studio Store for a chance to win a LEGO prize. With just two Brick or Treat weekends left, now’s the perfect time to visit. Best of all, everything is included with park admission!
The Vampyre Hearse is a must-stop selfie spot. Check out its new surprises during Brick or Treat!
Last year, we unveiled a 13-foot-long “Vampyre Hearse” created with more than 280,000 LEGO® and DUPLO® bricks. This year, the hot-rod hearse is back with a couple of new tricks outside the Market Restaurant. For the first time, the giant model will come alive with spooky sounds, flashing lights and bursts of fog. It’s one photo opportunity you don’t want to miss.
Cap off the night at 8 p.m. as you sit back and cast your eyes skyward for a spectacular, brick-tacular fireworks display over Lake Eloise set to a creepy crawly spider theme. These are no ordinary fireworks — they light up the night with a special LEGO twist! Be sure to pick up a free pair of special viewing glasses starting at 7 p.m. in Pirates’ Cove.
Brick or Treat ends each night with a spider-themed fireworks display over Lake Eloise.
Brick or Treat continues every Saturday and Sunday in October, plus Monday, Oct. 31, and is included with park admission. No extra ticket required!

The charitable arm of our parent company, Merlin Entertainments, holds the Fun Festival each September at Merlin attractions around the world. For this year’s event, Merlin’s Magic Wand selected Orlando, Fla.-based Nathaniel’s Hope for the wonderful work it’s doing to support kids with special needs (VIP kids). The nonprofit organization works to educate and equip the community with training and programs to assist VIP families, and all programs are offered free of charge.
Nathaniel’s Hope takes over MINILAND USA during the Fun Festival, an annual event organized by Merlin’s Magic Wand.
On Saturday, families spent the day exploring the theme park #BuiltForKids, pausing to capture a cherished memory of the day with a group photo in the heart of every LEGOLAND park, MINILAND USA.
Merlin’s Magic Wand exists to put the magic back into the childhoods of seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged children. The charity has helped more than 217,000 children and their families enjoy magical days out at Merlin attractions worldwide, and sponsors projects known as Merlin’s Magic Spaces that bring a bit of the Merlin magic into the community for children who are unable to visit one of the company’s attractions. Recently we asked brick fans to help us support our local community by filling one of the LEGOLAND® Florida Resort shuttle buses with school supplies. The response was brick-tastic! After adding up everything donated by guests and our Model Citizens, the final tally was nearly 2,800 items.
All items will be distributed to elementary and middle school students assisted by the HEARTH Project, a Polk County program that assists homeless and in-transition families and children “by eliminating barriers to school enrollment, attendance, stability, and overall academic success.”
According to Dee Dee Wright, homeless liaison for the Polk County School Board, last year 3,691 Polk County students were in a homeless situation sometime during the school year. In 2015, the organization was able to distribute school supplies to more than 850 students. She says this year they will be able to give even more due to this collaboration.
“We were very excited that LEGOLAND Florida Resort chose to support the HEARTH Project and provide assistance to our homeless students,” she said. “We were moved by the overwhelming generosity of the LEGOLAND staff and our community members. Giving school supplies not only equips students for success, but also makes them a confident learner.”
The supply drive was part of a global campaign called Being a Force for Good by Merlin Entertainments, the parent company of LEGOLAND Florida Resort, and represents the latest in a long line of LEGOLAND efforts to support our community and its children. Thank you to everyone that participated! You’re awesome!
It’s back-to-school time for local students, but not every child begins the year with the items they need to succeed. This month, we’re asking brick fans to help us support our community by donating school supplies.
Items will be distributed to elementary and middle-school students in the Polk County School Board’s homeless education program. The HEARTH Project and Polk County Public Schools work to ensure that homeless children throughout the county have equal opportunities for educational success.
On Aug. 19-21 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., LEGOLAND® Model Citizens will accept donations at one of our colorfully decorated shuttle buses near the archway as you enter the park. Help us “fill the bus” with items for needy students!
All supplies are welcome, but these are the items needed most:
Full-size spiral notebooks
Pocket folders (with brads)
Pencils (minimum 12-pack)
Pens (blue, black and red packs)
Markers (minimum 12-pack)
Crayons (minimum 12-pack)
Colored pencils (minimum 12-pack)
Highlighters (assorted packs)
Blunt-tip school scissors
Large pink erasers
Glue sticks (minimum 2-pack)
Everyone who donates 10 items or more from the most-needed list will receive a LEGO® NINJAGO® Sky Pirate building toy with exclusive Minifigure (subject to change while supplies last).
Meet LEGO Darth Vader during LEGO Star Wars™ Days. Just don’t make him mad.
In MINILAND USA, kids will discover some of the most famous scenes from the Star Wars™ saga made out of 1.5 million LEGO bricks, including displays inspired by “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,” “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” and “Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi,” plus giant LEGO models of Darth Vader, Darth Maul and R2-D2.
You’re invited to #BuildTheForce with fun Star Wars™ activities throughout the theme park, including a hands-on opportunity to create a large mural out of thousands of LEGO bricks, meet-and-greets with LEGO Darth Vader, a Yoda-themed scavenger hunt and photo ops with members of the 501st Legion, a global organization of costumed Star Wars™ fans.
Dress the part and show the world which LEGO® Star Wars™ character you think is best.
Want to learn from the pros? Our Master Model Builders will host a Q&A session to discuss their work and offer LEGO building tips. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite LEGO Star Wars™ characters and take part in a colorful parade for a chance to win a LEGO Star Wars™ prize.
All activities during LEGO Star Wars™ Days will take place both event dates and are included with park admission. No extra ticket or Jedi mind tricks required! LEGO Star Wars™ Days is the only LEGO Star Wars™ theme park event in Central Florida.
On this #FirefighterFriday, the Winter Haven Fire Department stopped by the LEGOLAND Hotel to capture a colorful photo of its brand new, custom designed pumper. The firefighters were all smiles as they posed in front of the new truck which they say is sure to improve service and increase safety for the firefighters.
Chris Humphrey, Assistant Fire Chief of Winter Haven Fire Department tells us the hotel was the perfect backdrop as they prepare to share this great news with the local community. “When you ask firefighters which toys were their favorite as a kid, most will pick firetrucks and LEGO. How fortunate we are to have both of our favorites in our backyard. We are very excited to present our new apparatus at LEGOLAND Florida Resort.”
Winter Haven Fire Department captures a colorful photo of their new fire engine at the LEGOLAND Hotel.
The new truck will replace two pumpers that have been in service for 18 years. They can pump 1,250 gallons per minute and carry 500 gallons of water! Firefighters tell us they are most excited about the new look and spacious feel of the new engines.
